Pain Medication Guidelines
- Non-Surgical Patients: We do not provide pain medications to non-surgical patients.
- Post-Operative Pain Management: We will provide pain medications post-operatively as part of your recovery. Medications will be prescribed for a maximum of 7 days at a time. Dosage and necessity will be reassessed regularly, with plans to reduce medication gradually.
- Extended Pain Needs: If you continue to require pain medication 8–10 weeks after surgery, we will refer you to a pain management specialist for long-term therapy.
- Controlled Substance Monitoring: We will review the controlled substance database with each refill. If records show that you are receiving pain medication from another provider, we will no longer provide pain medication.
- Pain Management Patients: If you are currently followed by a pain management provider, we will temporarily manage your pain medication immediately after surgery. Once you return to your baseline regimen (typically within 4–8 weeks), you will resume care with your pain management provider.
- Prescription Hours: We only fill medications Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. We do not prescribe medications after hours or on weekends. To ensure timely refills, we recommend that you call the day before your prescription runs out.
